Happy Memorial Day

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty." - John F. Kennedy

First 5K

Recently I decided that I needed a healthy hobby so I started running. This was quite surprising, even to me, because I have never been a runner. Ever.

Our neighborhood is a big rectangle with three rows of streets. The outside perimeter is equivalent to half a mile so I would go around four times in order to make it 2 miles. I started out walking the long sides and running the short sides. Then I ran the long sides and walked the short ones. Finally I got to where I could run the whole thing. After about a month I got the idea to do a 5k.

I found out about the Houston Astros Race for the Pennant then roped some friends in to do it with me. The race was yesterday and I was sure it would kill me because the most I had run at one time was 2 miles. It was tough, but I did it! I RAN the whole thing! 3.1 miles!!! My official time was 35:08 which is probably nothing to brag about, but it was better than my pace had been at home. The race ended inside Minute Maid park. We ran down a ramp to the edge of the field which was so cool! I felt great afterward, but I have to admit that during that last mile I thought I was going to die and I didn't care if I EVER ran again in my life! All in all, it was a great experience and one I would definitely do again.

Big Boy Bed!

Campbell has graduated from the crib to a big boy bed!

We had to do a little rearranging to accomodate the new bed & dresser.

close up of the dresser - we got it on sale at IKEA!

Campbell's first night in his new bed was a breeze! We always hold him and sing to him before putting him in bed so we did that then hoped for the best. He didn't get up once! And when he woke up the next morning, he just sat up in bed and called out for us. He wouldn't even get out of bed by himself! He did the same thing at nap time. It's so strange because he gets up and down from the bed during the day while playing.

Bailey's Preschool Graduation

Bailey's preschool program/graduation was last Friday. The kids did a musical called "Down on the Farm" and then received their diplomas in their caps and gowns!

After the program, there was a slide show of pictures taken throughout the year. They ended it with graduation pictures of all the kids. This is what brought me to tears!

Bailey had the only solo in the program!
She sang the beginning of "One Small Voice" and did a great job!

After her solo, all the other kids joined in.

Campbell's Birthday Party

We had Campbell's birthday party on Saturday and had a blast celebrating with him! He had a Cookie Monster party...he's pretty much obsessed with Cookie Monster right now. He refers to everything that is blue as Cookie Monster!
