Memorial Day weekend with the Baylor crew

Some of our favorite friends spent the weekend in Houston with us for Memorial Day!  The only time we usually all get together is in the fall for Baylor Homecoming, so this year we were intentional about planning something this spring.

On Friday night, Joanne, Tony, and Vivian came to our house for pizza and ice cream.  Then we met them in Katy for lunch on Saturday before we went to Paisley's birthday party.  That evening we all met up with David and Curtis for an Astros game!  The highlight of the game had nothing to do with baseball... it was that Joanne and Tony got engaged!  We ended up ditching the Astros to go celebrate at the Cheesecake Factory.

On Sunday we spent the day on the beach in Galveston.  Well, the rest of the crew spent the day.  It took us almost three hours to get there after church (twice as long as usual) because of the holiday weekend traffic.  We were only able to spend about an hour on the beach.  The kids were so disappointed, but we promised them we'd come back soon. We ate dinner at Bubba Gump's and spent some time on Pleasure Pier.

Paisley's Birthday

On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, we celebrated Paisley's 7th birthday with her precious family at a local skating rink.  Our kids have only been skating one other time, and were not big fans.  This time they got the hang of it pretty quickly and had a blast!

Family Birthday Party

The day after preschool graduation, we celebrated Campbell's birthday with our families. We had everyone over for lunch and cake. And the birthday boy was spoiled with more gifts!

Preschool Graduation

Campbell graduated from preschool last night!  Judd was given the honor of saying the opening prayer, and then we were blessed by the kids' precious program entitled "Rockin' N' Rollin'".

While the kids changed from their rock & roll attire into their graduation gowns, they showed a slideshow of pictures taken throughout the year.  It ended with cap & gown pictures of each of the kids.  

Three years ago when Bailey graduated from Small World, she walked like a penguin across the stage.  She rocked back and forth, making her long hair sway from side to side.  We have given her a hard time about it ever since.  Fast forward three years...when Campbell's name was called, he walked just like his sister did!  Stiff back and neck...rocked side to side...I could have died!

This is Ms. Judy... 

 She was Campbell's teacher in the infant room at Small World.  She also works in the nursery at our church.  When Campbell was a baby, he saw Ms. Judy six times a week.  When he began talking, he started calling her Mimi.  He's the only one who calls her that!  For five years, she has loved our boy like one of her own.  She pulled a few strings in order to be the one to help Campbell put on his cap and gown during graduation.  And afterward, she gave him a graduation gift.  She and many others at Small World have taken care of and loved both of our kids for the last five years. It occurred to me this week that we are approaching the end of an era.  No more Small World.  While our bank account will be thankful, we are sad that this chapter of our lives is ending.  The ladies at Small World are like family to us, and will always have a special place in our hearts.
