We can't wait to meet her and hold her!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Last week we had some pretty cold weather for Texas. We had highs in the 30s and lows in the teens. For an entire week, the kids couldn't go outside and play with their new toys (bicycle and tricycle) so we had to get creative inside. Bailey built little tents out of blankets in the living room and every night she wanted to sleep in them. We told her to wait until Friday and we'd build a HUGE fort that she could sleep in. Judd and I ended up going out to dinner for our anniversary that night so we had a babysitter, but promised that we would make a tent when we got home. While we were gone, Bailey convinced Anna to build a tent with her. They did a great job and she slept in it all night long. She loved it!

Campbell spent a lot of time playing with his train table. He constantly says, "Choo-choo!" while playing with the trains. His favorite thing is to gather ALL of the trains and send them down the hill one at a time.

We had fun indoors but we are glad it's warming up. Bailey finally got to ride her new bike around the block the other day. She wore her helmet and knee pads (even though we told her she didn't have to wear the knee pads - she insisted) and rode like a pro!

20 months

I know I say this for every month, but I cannot believe Campbell is 20 months old. He's out of the teens and only four months away from being 2! They grow so fast! Campbell is quickly changing from a baby to a little boy. Here's what the little guy is up to at 20 months:
  • Up until last week, we were still rocking Campbell to sleep. It was usually Judd's job because Campbell is such a daddy's boy, but on occasion I got to rock my little boy and it was a precious time to just hold him and love on him. By this age, Bailey was going to bed on her own and I knew we should start trying with Campbell. Last Wednesday while Judd was at church, I gave Campbell his stuffed Elmo and his little blanket and had him walk to his crib. All the while, I was saying, "Time to go night-night." Campbell responded by saying, "Night-night" over and over. I picked him up, gave him a kiss, told him night-night one more time, and put him in his crib. Then I turned around and walked out the door. Campbell cried for less than 10 seconds then went to sleep. We've done it every night since with great success.

  • Have I mentioned that he is obsessed with Elmo? I mean obsessed! Elmo has replaced "Daddy" as his favorite word. Sesame Street is his favorite show, especially episodes that feature Elmo in the main story line. He can sing the theme song to "Elmo's World." You know, "La-la-la-la, La-la-la-la Elmo's World!" We got Bailey the TMX Elmo in 2006 when it came out. It was THE thing that year so it was hard to find in stores. We got ours on e-bay and paid double what it was worth. She never played with it. Never. We almost donated it or put in the garage sale pile several times, but I just couldn't part with it knowing how much we spent on it. Well, it was worth holding on to because Campbell LOVES it! He totes that thing around everywhere! It's big and bulky so we had to get him a soft plush Elmo that would be easier to carry around. He has an Elmo toothbrush and brushes his teeth multiple times a day, while saying, "Elmo!" Actually, it sounds like "Mel-mo." I wonder how long this obsession will last...

  • He LOVES fruits. He eats a banana for breakfast almost every morning. Don't cut it for him or he will be highly offended! He also loves apples and oranges, but calls both apples.

  • We found out why he isn't always interested in dinner. His teacher told me that he has multiple helpings at lunch! One day she said he had three helpings of chili and was the only one in the class that would eat cornbread. That's my boy!

  • His vocabulary improves more and more every day. He mimicks us all the time. He has even started to boss his big sister around! The other day he said, "Quit, A-yee" (That's what he calls Bailey.)
Go Cowboys!

What's your name?

We've tried to get Campbell to say his name for a while now. He finally started saying it (kind of) on our way home from the Great Wolf Lodge!

seven

It's hard to believe that seven years ago today I married my best friend. I didn't know then that I would love him more today than I did on this day seven years ago. I didn't know what an amazing father he would be. I didn't realize the depth of his love for me. We have grown in so many ways over the last seven years. It hasn't always been easy, but it's been real. Real life. Real love. I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Resolutions

I don't typically make New Year's resolutions. For some reason, I decided to this year.

1. Scripture Memory - Judd and I are doing this together. Every other Monday we will choose a verse(s) and work on memorizing it for two weeks. This is something that Beth Moore did on her blog last year. Click here to read about it.

2. Bible Study - I am infamous for starting a Bible study and not finishing it for whatever reason. I am starting off this year with Jesus: 90 Days with the One and Only by Beth Moore. I like that it is 90 days worth of daily study. Three months. I will stick with it. I will finish it. I know that to grow in the Lord I have to be in the word and spend time with Him daily. For me, it helps to have a study where there is something to do every day. I have often neglected spending time with Him so in 2010 I will be returning to my first love.

3. Health - The is the cliche one. I want to lose ten pounds. I gained four pounds over the holidays so I need to lose that and six more to get to a number on the scale that I haven't seen since before we got married. Weight Watchers really worked for me after Campbell was born so that's what I'm going to do. I also need to work out. I plan on doing the 30 Day Shred again. (I haven't done it once since school started!) We also have a treadmill so I play on using that as well. My goal is to work out at least three times a week. (I realize that's not much, but it's an attainable goal since I haven't been working out at all.)

Do you make New Year's resolutions? What are they?
